Going for Gold
Several weeks ago were the Winter Olympics, which were held in Vancouver, Canada. In fact the US now holds the winter record for must medals won with 37. The athletic events were exciting and sometimes they were filled with drama. There was even a tragic death of a luge competitor. Athletes have been working and training for years for their particular event or events. They have but one goal in mind....WIN GOLD!!!! They are striving to win the race.
We have training for our event too. It's called "life" and every day that we are still here on earth we need to run the race and fight the good fight. We have coaches to help train us (listen and follow their directions), we have teammates to encourage us along (pick each other up when we are down). Our lives are filled with those who want to see us get the gold medal. Our meaningful loving relationships with God and each other foster success in the Christian's daily life.
So think about this.....like those Olympic athletes, you too can be victorious and win the gold, but you can't do it alone. Connect with some good coaches and teammates and watch how well you run the race.
Love, Pastor Toby
